Elessa had waited her whole life for this day. There were moments when she was less eager than others but it is natural to have a little fear of this life changing event. The day when she, all in white, would take his hand and step into the next chapter of her journey.
Now the time was approaching. Her family and friends had all arrived. They whispered in hush tones understanding the solemnity of the occasion.
She’s just too young for all this!
It was a common phrase Elessa heard but when you know in your heart that the time has come, there’s no turning back. A slight smile played on her lips as her father held her hand. He had tried hard to hide his tears but it was all too much for him to see his little girl as this woman beside him.
“Don’t worry daddy. I’m ready.”
Hearing her words only made the tears come faster. He knew it was true. She was ready. Elessa has planned to the last detail making sure the ceremony was perfect. Flowers and songs were selected and her white gown was perfect. Yet, it was never going to be easy for her father to accept how grown up his little girl had become or that she was no longer the small child her could hold on his knee.
Now the hour had arrived and Elessa took the hand of the man who would usher her into eternity.
“You look absolutely stunning” said Death.
She smiled as they walked off into oblivion.
