Current Word Count: 7,434
It was my goal to hit 10,000 words today but I was not able to do it. I will try again tomorrow.
Yesterday I was plowing through the words. I destroyed my word count and was excited to see how many words I could churn out today. However, I just could not get it together. Every time I stared at the screen, it felt like pulling teeth to coax words on the screen. Finally, I gave up, grabbed a notebook and started handwriting a few chapters. In fact, all of the words written today were originally handwriten and later transcribed into Scrivener.

I love technology. Lately I have been working on my ipad and iphone. However, there is just something about putting the pen to paper (I wrote a whole blog post on my preference for writing by hand here). For me, its like the words just flow through my fingers and directly onto the paper when I write. Plus, I make notes, draw arrows and scratch through poor ideas for even better ones.
Although I love handwriting stories, it does take more time to get words out. But it is a nice way to get the brainstorming going whenever I feel stuck or unmotivated.
No matter the method of writing the important thing to note is that devices and notebooks are just tools. At the end of the day all that matters is the energy and work put forth to pull those words out of the air. The ability to knit worlds out of nothing but imagination and experience is the real magic regardless of whatever method used to hold those worlds.
Write on!
