It’s almost here. While most of my friends were handing out candy or taking their children trick or treating, I have been staring at the clock in anticipation.
In 15 minutes the mad race to complete a novel in 30 days will begin.
This year is unlike any other for me. For the first time, I will be working on NaNo without a certain cheerleader who once urged me onward. Just typing that line is very difficult. However, I did not write novels for him. I write for me. I write because in a world with so many factors beyond our control, it is the one thing I can depend upon. The words that pour on the page will be the same words today, tomorrow, or whenever until I see fit to having them edited.
This year I will pour every drop of myself into this novel. No more wasted tears, when there are worlds to build.
10 minutes left.
Pencils are being sharpened. Laptops, iPads, even typewriters are ready. Some writers have already begun, in their time zones it is already November. The time is drawing near for California as well.
5 minutes left.
By the time this post hits my page it will be time.
See you on the other side.
