One of the things I remember as child was learning the constellations. Stories of heroes who battled the gods and ended up in the sky. Of all the stories I was told, none stood out more to me than that of Orion.
In the warm night I walked past several crowds of people. Loud people, busy people, going about their planned evenings.
I was alone.
I looked into the sky and saw three stars. The surrounding stars were aligned.
Orion’s Belt.
Feelings of nostalgia rushed over me as I was a wide eyed child listening to the tale of the hunter in a classroom of children my own age. A daughter on a quest as my father challenged me to read through the book of Job to find mention of Orion and the Pleiades.
The night was no longer too warm and I no longer felt alone.
